Thank you for supporting the job fair

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I would like to thank everyone who had a hand in making the 2009 Job Fair at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport a success.

Thank you to the YNG airport staff who allowed us to use the terminal building and helped run the show behind the scenes. Thanks to Mikeee’s restaurant for opening up for all of the participants and serving what may be the best pulled pork sandwich around!

Thank you to Randy Reynolds, PIA’s YNG school director, and his staff for their patience and willingness to send their students and give tours of the facility.

Thank you to the employers/recruiters who traveled to meet our great students and alumni. Coming a long distance to a job fair can often result in at least three days away from the office and family. I hope that such a sacrifice paid off by allowing you to meet many possible employees in one time frame.

Thank you to the alumni and students who came to meet these employers. Without a large turnout, employers may not want to come to such events–making it harder for you to meet them. Large numbers of informed and willing workers make such events successful.

Plans are in the works for the next job fair (March 4 in Pittsburgh). Keep an eye out for upcoming on campus interviews too.

Job Fair Participant: Mountain State University

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Mountain State University, based in West Virginia but with campuses all over [including Monaca, PA] will be in attendance to discuss continuing education opportunities with job fair participants.

MSU and PIA share an articulation agreement that allows PIA alumni to transfer up to 67 credits from PIA toward a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in aviation, or 61 credits toward a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (B.S.O.L.). Those with additional college credits may be eligible to transfer up to 80 hours into either program.

These programs point technicians into managerial roles within aviation maintenance, flight operations, and non-aviation companies. Remember that continuing your education is always a good idea.
